God, Are You Still Listening?

Woman kneeling in silence at the sunset — God, are you still listening?

God, Are You Still Listening?
There’s a kind of silence that isn’t peaceful.
It’s the kind that follows desperate prayers, whispered in the dark… and met with nothing.
No whisper back.
No sign.
Just stillness.
You start to wonder if your words even made it past the ceiling.
You keep showing up—knees to the floor, heart wide open—but heaven feels closed.
You ask again:
God, are You still there?
And what hurts the most is not that you’re angry. It’s that you’re empty.
Worn out from holding it all together.
Tired of carrying questions with no answers.
I’ve been there.
I sat on the floor.
I laid down on the floor—because it was the lowest place I could show God how small I felt.
How desperately I needed Him to see me.
There were no more words left.
Only tears.
Only silence.
Only surrender.

He Speaks in The Silence

I met Jesus when I was 19.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned in all these years, it’s this:
He doesn’t always speak when you pray.
He speaks when you stop.
When you give up trying to control it.
When you fall asleep after crying until your chest hurts—
and you wake up feeling something unexplainable.
Peace.
The kind that doesn’t match the circumstances.
The kind that doesn’t make sense.
The kind that says:
“I was there all along.”
Sometimes, God waits for the noise inside us to die down before He speaks.
Sometimes, He is the silence.
And sometimes, the miracle isn’t the answer—it’s the stillness.

But What if The Silence Feels Like Abandonment?

It does, sometimes.
Let’s be honest — silence can feel like a slammed door.
Like a friend who stopped answering your calls.
Like God left you on read.
And no one prepares you for that.
Not the church.
Not the devotionals.
Not the people who mean well and say, “Just have faith.”
But silence isn’t always absence.
It’s not always punishment.
It’s sometimes the very space where something deeper is being planted.
Because faith isn’t built in the answers.
Faith grows in the questions.
In the pause.
In the ache.
In the hours and days and months where nothing moves—
and yet, something inside you begins to.
You stop praying for noise.
You start watching for signs.
You begin to trust that just because you don’t hear Him… doesn’t mean He stopped speaking.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18
I’ve cried in cars.
I’ve cried in bathrooms.
I’ve prayed in the middle of the night, staring at the ceiling, asking God to say something.
And sometimes…
He didn’t.
But the next morning, the sun came up.
And the day kept moving.
And I kept breathing.
And somewhere along the way, I realized:
He hadn’t left me.
He was sitting in the silence with me.

If You are Still Asking, You are Still Believing

Maybe you’re in that place right now.
Maybe you’re waiting for a sign that He hasn’t forgotten you.
Let this be it.
Let this be the reminder:
He sees you.
He knows what you need even before you ask.
And He’s not done with your story.
If you listen—in the stillness, in the quiet after the storm—
you just might feel Him there.
Still.

So… Is God Still Listening?

Yes.
He is still there.
He still hears.
And He is still doing miracles—sometimes in the loudest praise, and sometimes in the quietest room.
Hold on, even if all you’re holding is your breath.
Because He’s still holding you.
